An Austin man is facing charges after police say he crashed into a taco truck and left the scene.

It happened October 25th at around 9:27 p.m. at 1210 Barton Springs Road near South Lamar Boulevard in a parking lot where the Taco Express food trailer is parked.

When officers arrived, they noted damage to the back of the trailer, crumpled metal paneling, and broken headlight covers.

Inside the trailer, an employee was found injured with a bloody nose.

He told officers he was stocking water bottles when the impact of the crash pushed a microwave off the refrigerator and onto his head.

The employee added that the driver was a regular customer, and after the crash, the driver said he wasn't staying around and drove off.

Police identified him as 58-year-old Patrick Whitney.

Whitney's been charged with third-degree felony collision involving serious bodily injury.
